A guide from Adviser Portals
How much does a financial adviser website cost?
Compare the setup fee, ongoing subscription and work included before you choose a website. A low build price can cover a very different service from a managed website with content, hosting and support.
With Adviser Portals, standard Mortgage/GI websites cost £299.00 setup plus £59.50/month. Wealth/IFA websites cost £299.00 setup plus £71.50/month. These prices exclude VAT.
Adviser Portals: setup, monthly fees and first-year costs
These are our standard non-partner prices. First-year costs mean one setup charge plus 12 monthly payments. They are a budgeting illustration, not an annual billing plan or a statement of your minimum contract term.
| Cost | Mortgage / GI | Wealth / IFA |
|---|---|---|
| One-off setup, excluding VAT | £299.00 | £299.00 |
| Monthly subscription, excluding VAT | £59.50 | £71.50 |
| First year, excluding VAT | £1,013.00 | £1,157.00 |
| One-off setup, including VAT | £358.80 | £358.80 |
| Monthly subscription, including VAT | £71.40 | £85.80 |
| First year, including VAT | £1,215.60 | £1,388.40 |
| 12 ongoing months, excluding VAT | £714.00 | £858.00 |
| 12 ongoing months, including VAT | £856.80 | £1,029.60 |
VAT is calculated at 20%. Ongoing illustrations assume unchanged monthly prices. Eligible network rates may differ; confirm your firm’s price and approval requirements before ordering.
What is included in our website service?
The subscription includes managed hosting and SSL, website editing tools, managed adviser content and ongoing platform support. Your firm can update its people, services, pages and business details. Content and tools available to a particular firm depend on its adviser type and any network controls.
Domain registration and renewal remain your responsibility unless agreed otherwise. Email mailbox hosting, paid advertising and an ongoing SEO campaign are not included in the standard website service unless separately agreed. Ask us to confirm any migration or specialist work before you commit.
Our standard terms provide for 30 days’ written notice to end an ongoing service unless your order specifies a different minimum term or notice period. Check the terms of business and your own order for the applicable agreement.
Compare the work included, as well as the price
There is no single price for every financial adviser website. Ask suppliers to quote against the same brief so you can compare what your firm will receive. These are different buying approaches, rather than a ranking of which is best.
Build it yourself
You choose a general website builder and take responsibility for the design, content and updates. Budget for your time, the builder subscription and any separate help with content or approval. This can suit a firm with the skills and time to maintain its own site.
Managed subscription website
You pay for setup and an ongoing service. Check the theme choices, editing access, managed content and support included. Adviser Portals follows this model. The platform and supplied content are licensed for use during an active subscription.
Bespoke agency project
An agency creates a site against an agreed brief. Clarify whether the quote includes copywriting, photography, migration, hosting and maintenance. A custom design may suit a firm with specific branding or integration requirements.
Network-arranged website
Your network may arrange a service or negotiated pricing. Confirm which supplier provides it, what your firm can edit, who approves changes and what happens to your content and domain if you leave the network.
Seven questions to ask before buying
- What is the total over 12 and 24 months? Include setup, VAT, subscriptions, renewals and any mandatory extras. Compare prices on the same VAT basis.
- Who writes and maintains the content? Check whether service pages, articles, calculators and newsletters are included, and what your firm or network must review.
- What can we change ourselves? Ask to see how an adviser edits a page or updates a team member. Check the process and cost for supplier-assisted changes.
- What does migration cover? Agree a page and file inventory, URL redirects, domain changes, email continuity and what happens to existing articles.
- Who handles approval? Confirm your network’s requirements, who reviews the site and how later changes are checked. Website tools do not replace your firm’s responsibilities.
- What happens when we leave? Check ownership of your domain and original content, platform licensing, export options, minimum terms and notice periods.
- What search work is actually included? Distinguish a website that can be crawled and indexed from an ongoing service covering research, new content, promotion and reporting.
Replacing an existing adviser website
Send us your current website address before making changes to your hosting. We can discuss the pages, images, documents and business details you want to keep, and confirm the work needed. A larger archive or a different page structure needs a more detailed migration brief than a small new website.
Keep the existing site and email service running until the move is agreed. Retain useful page addresses where possible, plan redirects for changed URLs and check the contact forms and important downloads before switching the domain.
Will a new website bring more enquiries?
A clear website helps people understand your firm and contact you. Search performance also depends on the content, competition, links and how Google evaluates the site. Website purchase alone does not guarantee rankings or enquiries. Start with useful pages, check indexing and measure search visibility and actual enquiries over time.
Discuss the cost of your firm’s website
Email Mark with your current website address, adviser type and network, if applicable. We’ll discuss the appropriate package and the work involved in moving.
